Somaieh graduated from Public Policy and Management, Somaieh was employed by the United Nations agencies and the Global Fund in their projects on TB and HIV/AIDS in Iran; the main focus of her work was project management and M&E.

In 2013, she came to the Netherlands and started working as the research consultant with United Nations University as well as the European University Institute. She joined KNCV as a project officer in February 2015.
